Earthing

Earthing is something most of us have done since childhood without even realizing that the natural act of placing our feet upon the Earth has many healing benefits!

When we are barefoot, the electrons from the Earth’s surface are transferred to the body which realigns the electrical energy within the body. Several studies show that earthing has a grounding effect, can reduce inflammation, heal muscle damage, alleviate chronic pain, boost immune system, and help to ease depression and anxiety.

As someone who is a highly sensitive and empathic person, and also spent many years with anxiety and chronic pain, I can honestly say that allowing the Earth to ground, cleanse, and recharge me each day has been an incredibly powerful addition to my daily healing practice. It is truly a simple thing that we can all do to help us throughout our journey.

Why yes, I do stand outside barefoot for a few minutes in the winter.

While 30-40 minutes is recommended to receive the most out of earthing, it only takes a few minutes and a quick visualization meditation to ground your energy and make a world of difference in your day!

A quick visualization technique:

- Place your feet on the earth. Take a few big deep breaths and imagine roots growing from the base of your spine down (root chakra) down through the earth.

- With each exhale imagine your roots are growing deeper and deeper, through soil, and rock, and eventually to the core of the earth.

-Once you feel you have reached there, breathe deeply for a few breaths or for as long as you feel guided.

-Now on each inhale follow your roots back up through the earth, until you reach back up to the base of your spine.

*For extra grounding do this visualization under a tree.
